Hotel and leisure developers Northern Powerhouse Developments have added a further property to their growing portfolio of hotels.
The Yorkshire-based group announced they have just completed on the purchase of Bourton Hall – a stunning Grade II listed residence in the heart of Warwickshire.
This latest acquisition takes the number of UK hotels owned by NPD to 16 and is an impressive addition to their prestigious Manor Collection.
Situated just 35 minutes from Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of the world’s greatest playwright, William Shakespeare, Bourton Hall is described as a 16-acre haven of elegant calm and will shortly undergo extensive renovation to transform it into a luxury hotel and spa retreat.
Lying in the pretty village of Bourton-on-Dunsmore, framed by rolling countryside, Draycote
water reservoir and the surrounding villages, Bourton Hall dates back to 1791 and boasts a wealth of original features, many designed and built by the famous architect H.A Peto.
Speaking about their latest acquisition, NPD Chairman Gavin Woodhouse said: “We are delighted to have completed on the purchase of this exceptional country hotel which lies in one of the UK’s most popular tourist destinations.
“Steeped in history it is an area of incredible charm and beauty and Bourton Hall, with its stunning architecture and beautiful grounds, will provide the perfect retreat for guests looking to relax and unwind in style.
“Over the coming months we will sympathetically transform the main hall of the building to provide 56 luxurious ensuite bedrooms while outside we will introduce further bedrooms to the existing stable blocks, build a state-of-the-art spa and add luxurious villas in the grounds.”
Richard Lewis, CEO of NPD Hotels said: “We are thrilled to have acquired such a beautiful and historic property as Bourton Hall. It is a property of immense character and elegance and we look forward to delivering an exceptional guest experience to this exceptional part of the world.”
Warwickshire attracts millions of tourists annually from around the globe who flock to the picturesque towns of Rugby, Leamington Spa, Warwick and of course neighbouring Stratford-upon-Avon and the addition of Bourton Hall to their UK-based portfolio of hotels, is a major coup for NPD.
